Could you become a mentor? We are always looking for dedicated and inspiring people to get involved with our mentoring scheme and mentor mental health service users.
Can you help inspire mental health service users in their journey to recovery or to becoming entrepreneurs or self employed through your own experiences in business, general management or managing enterprise?
Do you have specific skills and knowledge that would help participants be successful in their life aspirations and careers?
We are putting together a database of prospective mentors, willing to donate as much or as little time as you are able, to help those on our scheme realise their aspirations.
Included! is a Mentoring project created with the intention of helping people in the community who have mental health problems by providing them with peer support. This is achieved by recruiting volunteer mentors and matching them with a person who may be experiencing mental distress.
We promote opportunities for mentees that include increasing engagement of local activities, extending social networks, accessing employment, education and training opportunities. This is in addition to accessing any other services that will increase their independence.
However this is not just a one-way-street, each mentor is fully trained in Mental Health Awareness, discussing the Project's policies and procedures, confidentiality, child protection & safe guarding, understanding cultural differences, first aid and understanding communication barriers and boundaries. Ultimately the mentors will gain a certificate in Community volunteering.
The aim is to enhance creativity and encourage people with mental health problems to gain confidence and extend their support networks within the local community.
